Two Homeless Boys, Centuries Apart: Joelle Corbett on Past Life Regression and the Pain Your Body Still Remembers

Here's something that still gives me chills. When Kebrasca and I each went under for past life regression — separately, years apart, before we'd compared a single note — we both landed in a life as a homeless little boy. Both taken in by a man who seemed kind. Both betrayed by him. Centuries apart, different continents, the same wound. And we both still carry it in our bodies today.

That's the thing about this work that the sceptic in Kebrasca could never quite explain away.

The Hip Pain That Came From 1700s London

You already know about my hips — Kebrasca works on them constantly, and they're his longest-running case study. What I didn't expect was where the pain actually came from. In a crystal dreaming session I went looking for the root of it, and I dropped into a life as a homeless boy on the cobblestones of London in the 1700s — no shoes, grimy, begging. A butcher befriended me and a few of the other street children, fed us, let us in. He was not a good man, and what he did in that life is exactly where the pain in my hip and thigh, especially the left, has been sitting in this one.

Past life regression doesn't just surface the memory and leave you there. You bring it up, you work it, and you release it so you're no longer tethered to it. After that clearing, the hip pain genuinely subsided for months. It's the same body-holds-the-story truth we keep meeting from every direction — the one Angela Graham reads through the body in kinesiology.

A Temple in Ancient Egypt

Kebrasca's was bigger, and he came in a full sceptic — recommended to Joelle by his teacher Nigel, with zero past-life experience. He went into a meditative state on her table in St Kilda and, within moments, was no longer in the room. He was a young boy in a loincloth on the streets of Ancient Egypt, in the time of the pharaohs, being led with a crowd of other children by a large, dark adult figure into a temple. What happened to those children there was harrowing — and afterwards their souls were trapped, vessel by vessel, like a genie in a bottle. Joelle guided him safely out of it.

He came back to St Kilda feeling like an enormous weight had lifted — a weight he hadn't even known he was carrying — and then sat in a park for two hours, body buzzing, trying to make sense of how real it had been. He could smell the other children. He could feel the heat of the temple flames. He still remembers all of it. That's the detail that converts sceptics: you can write off a vivid imagination, but you don't invent the smell of a memory.

Why Talk Therapy Sometimes Isn't Enough

Joelle Corbett is a Kiwi now based in Melbourne, an Aquarian healer and subconscious trauma specialist with more than two decades behind her. Her own door opened at a marae back in New Zealand, where a Māori woman was clearing past lives from people over a weekend — weeping, wailing, the room thick with it. Joelle didn't get her release that weekend, but she met the Māori healer she's worked with ever since, from her early thirties into her late fifties.

What she's clear about — without knocking psychology, which has its place — is that talk therapy tends to work the lower levels: physical, emotional, mental. But we're multi-dimensional beings, and some patterns simply live deeper than talking can reach. She's seen people sit in therapy for ten or fifteen years, still venting, still circling the same issue. Nine times out of ten, she says, when something refuses to shift, it goes back beyond this life. A woman who keeps attracting abusive partners despite every tool and strategy. Someone who moves job to job and meets the same cruelty each time. The pattern is the mouse on the wheel, and the wheel was built lifetimes ago.

How a Session Actually Works

This is where it gets fascinating. Joelle uses a form of kinesiology — muscle testing — and she speaks everything aloud, because the body hears the voice. She'll clear the field first, then test where to go: often a vow or a contract is the nucleus, and the past lives are tentacles coming off it. So many of us, she says, were priests, nuns, monks in past lives, and a vow of chastity or poverty taken then can quietly run a relationship or money pattern now. She clears across every layer she can reach — karmic memory, cellular memory, soul memory — and tests whether to go back further still: this life, birth, gestation, conception, a past life, even an ancestor's past life, because we inherit the genetic and generational too.

And her view of time reframes the whole thing: time isn't linear, it's simultaneous. Clearing a past life doesn't erase it — it clears the trauma around it, leaving just enough of a trace to remind you. The aspect of you still suffering back there is, in her framing, suffering now — which is why it can be cleared now.

What Changes Afterward

The results she described are about energy you stop broadcasting. Clear the vow and the trauma around abusive relationships, and people write to her months later: I met someone, and their energy is completely different from every partner before. Because they're no longer unconsciously sending out "come and abuse me." The job-to-job persecution stops. The pattern releases at its core.

None of this works without protection, and Joelle's is thorough — a golden ball of light around the room, the twelve-chakra system, a beam drawn down through the crown to the earth star and around the auric field, St Germain's violet flame, Archangel Michael's blue sword cutting cords, Archangel Raphael sealing the rips afterward, and white sage, frankincense and myrrh. When you merge with someone's field, she explains, whatever's in there can jump into yours; protection is the umbrella you carry into the storm. Not foolproof — but far better than walking out into it bare. And her simplest reset is the plainest one of all: shoes off under a big tree in the park, or feet in the sea.

She's thinking about teaching next — reworking what she's learned into something of her own to pass on — and her first step for anyone stuck is gentle and honest: get clear on which areas of your life feel stuck, be willing to look at your own shadow, and start somewhere soft. The worst thing you can do, we agreed, is nothing.

Some guests you interview. Joelle, we got to thank the woman who once converted the biggest sceptic in the room.

[03:50] Welcome back

Welcome to Creative Talk, where we blend the worlds of consciousness and commerce. I'm Kebrasca King and I'm Amber King, and today we've got a very special guest — all the way from our home country, Aotearoa New Zealand, now based in Melbourne: Joelle Corbett, an Aquarian healing and subconscious trauma specialist who's spent over two decades helping people clear deep-rooted patterns, both in this lifetime and beyond.

[04:04] Amber's past life: 1700s London

Not everyone believes in past lives — I do, because I've experienced too much. What we did in a past life can affect what we're living now. You know my sore hips, Kebrasca — your longest client. In a crystal dreaming session I went looking at what could be causing the pain in my hips and thighs, especially the left, and I came up as a little homeless boy in 1700s England, on the cobblestones, no shoes, begging. A butcher befriended me and some of the other street children — fed us — but he wasn't a good person, and what he did in that life is connected to the pain I feel now. In past life regression you don't just surface it; you bring it up, work on it and release it, so you're no longer connected to it in this life. After that, the pain subsided — I was good for months.

[08:31] Kebrasca in Ancient Egypt

My session with Joelle was different, and it was my first ever — I was very early in my spiritual work, recommended to her by my teacher Nigel. At her place in St Kilda she explained the process, I lay on the bed, we went into a hypnotic state like meditation, and suddenly I was no longer in the room. I'd regressed to the time of the pharaohs in Egypt — a young boy in a loincloth, dirty, a street kid. I was being led, with other children, by a large dark adult figure through the streets into a temple, with an overwhelming compulsion to follow. What happened to those children there was full-on — and afterwards our souls were trapped, like a genie in a bottle. Joelle guided me safely through it and helped me get out.

[14:00] Sitting in the park for two hours

When I came out, I was back in St Kilda — and it was like coming off something intense, it was so real. The feeling was of an enormous weight lifting that I hadn't even known I carried. After the session — Joelle may not even know this — I had to go and sit in a park for about two hours, just going, what the heck just happened, was that real? My body, my energy, the lightness all told me something had happened. And it wouldn't have, if I hadn't taken the chance. To any sceptic: just give it a go.

[17:33] Both homeless boys

It's so interesting that we both came up as homeless little boys taken advantage of by a man who rounded up children — centuries ago, and we still carry it in our bodies, our DNA, our memories. (Kebrasca:) I still feel it, still remember the room, the temple flames, the smell of the other children. That's what I'd say to sceptics — yes, we have imaginations, but you don't make up the smell of a memory. I was a full sceptic before this; my test was to try these modalities with different teachers and see if they worked. After that first session I was hooked — I saw Joelle for three months straight and cleared so many lives.

[20:01] For the sceptics, and the new direction

We've had a few months' break, busy in the background building our new website and podcast. Last year we kept the spiritual side of ourselves completely separate from our business life, because we thought people would think we were crazy — and some still do, and that's okay. But we got tired of going back and forth; both sides make up who we are, so why hide one to appease people? It's about being authentic. The corporate world is getting into breath work, meditation, wellness, cold plunging — it's becoming mainstream — and there are loads of spiritual entrepreneurs like Joelle running real businesses. So Creative Talk is about blending those worlds.

[23:05] Blending consciousness and commerce

Every modality we've done — tarot, mediumship, energy work, past life regression, crystal dreaming — has had a profound effect, lifting layers of trauma or grief without us always understanding how. You can't rely on one modality to do everything; it's like getting a second opinion. We're strong advocates for supporting the many gifted healers out there, because we were supported to get where we are. You can check out Joelle's modality, Aquarian healing, on her website, universalhealingwellness.com.

[26:32] Introducing Joelle

Let's bring in Joelle Corbett — Aquarian healer and subconscious trauma specialist, over two decades helping people clear deep-rooted patterns from this lifetime or another. Joelle, how are you? (Good — thank you both. It's a pleasure.)

[27:35] The marae that started it

You're a woman of many talents — starting in psychology, now working with past lives. What shifted your life? I had a profound experience back in New Zealand. I went to a marae for a weekend, and a Māori woman was getting people up and clearing past lives — very traumatic, people weeping and wailing, my adrenaline pumping because I knew a lot was surfacing. I wasn't one of the ones who released that weekend, but I connected with a wonderful Māori woman there who's been my healer ever since — from my early thirties into my late fifties. She practises a form of Aquarian healing with her own spin, and I got such wonderful results I added it to my toolkit. I've been stuck in the jar myself in past lives, like Kebrasca — sometimes you have to go deeper to get the soul out, or help other souls who are stuck there too.

[28:51] Beyond conventional psychology

It goes so much deeper than conventional psychology, psychotherapy and counselling — not to knock them, they have their place. But people say, I've been working this issue for years in therapy and it's just not shifting, and nine times out of ten it goes back into past lives. (Kebrasca:) Your regression process was something I'd never experienced — so visceral, I was on the table moving and shaking. Is that normal? Everyone's different — some hardly move; some feel electric shocks the moment I touch the wrist, because I use a form of kinesiology; some are very vocal and cathartic. Whatever needs to happen happens, and it's vital I hold that space and bring them safely back to the present — we don't leave any part of them out there.

[31:22] How past-life trauma shows up today

The trauma doesn't always start this lifetime. A client might keep attracting abusive partners despite every tool — and the pattern goes beyond this life, so we clear vows and contracts around suffering abuse and betrayal. It can be ancestral too — family, genetic, generational. Or pain, like Amber's hips: someone comes with knee pain after every doctor, and my first impression is that something happened to that knee in a past life — and nine times out of ten, once we work, the past life shows itself. Often we haven't forgiven ourselves or the people who hurt us, which is partly why it resurfaces — so we clear the blocked emotions, forgiveness for ourselves and sometimes the perpetrator, across karmic, cellular and soul memory.

[33:53] Kinesiology and reading the body

When I put a client on the table I work with my manual first, speaking everything aloud — because voice is vibration, and the body hears what we say. We clear the energy field, then I muscle test where to go: I usually know in my mind, but I confirm it with the body. A vow or contract is often the nucleus, and the past lives are tentacles off it. I clear the vow first, then go into this life and sometimes back through traumatic memories, reading it back — body recognising, clearing, releasing from all levels of consciousness. Then I test whether we go further — birth, gestation, conception, a past life, or an ancestor's. With themes like persecution or abuse there can be many past lives, so I ask the body and the lords of karma whether we can bring a whole group online to clear as much as possible — though sometimes the body can't cope with everything at once.

[38:06] Why time isn't linear

When the body says go back, we're in a different timeline — I'll often get a sense of a century, 1600s, 1700s, medieval. But time isn't linear, it's simultaneous. So that part of you suffering in a past life is, in a sense, suffering now, affecting your present — which is why it comes up to be cleared. When I clear a past life, the life is still there, but we're clearing the traumas around it; there'll always be a little trace, just to remind you, but the majority is released.

[41:01] What changes afterward

People who hadn't had a natural relationship in 10 or 20 years — I'll test for a vow of poverty, chastity, obedience, because so many of us were priests or nuns. We clear it, and months later they email: I've met someone, and their energy is completely different. With that shift they're no longer unconsciously sending out "come and abuse me." Another client went job to job, persecuted every time — clear the pattern at its core, and suddenly they're not getting persecuted anymore. Talking is good — we need to express — but psychology works the lower levels; healing works the whole multi-dimensional being, all the layers.

[45:11] Why the soul repeats lessons

Why do we keep reliving patterns? Many reasons. The older the soul — here hundreds of times, and not just on this planet — the more lifetimes and the more trauma you may have accumulated, and you didn't always clear it. Even lifetimes as a healer, you may not have worked your own stuff. And we inherit family and generational patterns: I came in as a Corbett this time, but I carry the traumas of all my other names and lives too. I'm passionate about this because when things are cleared and released, real positive shifts happen.

[47:31] Protection and cleansing

I place a golden ball of light around the room and around myself, working with the twelve-chakra system — a beam of light down through my higher self, crown, physical body, base, into the earth star chakra, then around my auric field. I command the body to open the twelve main chakras for the session, and at the end I always disconnect and ground us both. I release the old protection before putting on new, so no stagnant energy sits between. I love white sage, and frankincense and myrrh on charcoal — though I set off the smoke alarm every time. There's a beautiful park and a beach near me, so I'll take my shoes off under a tree or sit by the waves to clear my field.

[52:01] What if you skip protection

When I work I'm merging with the client's field, so an entity could jump into mine — I'd sense it afterwards and ask for it to be removed. The light I bring through first raises my frequency, which matters during a session. Protection is like walking into a storm with an umbrella rather than nothing — not 100% foolproof, but something. Without it, you could walk into a supermarket afterwards and suddenly feel angry or sad that isn't yours. (We use sage and frankincense several times a day — the energetic difference before, during and after is night and day; it's an overlooked but profound part of the practice.) I'll also call on St Germain's violet flame, Archangel Michael's blue sword to cut cords, and Archangel Raphael to seal the rips and tears in the auric field afterwards — front, turn over, back. Quick and easy; anyone can do it.

[54:15] Building the business

My biggest challenge was marketing — not my forte. Years ago I did small psychic fairs, 20–30 minute Aquarian healing sessions for a modest cost, handing out brochures and putting my name in for talks for exposure. A kind friend printed me thousands of brochures, and we'd letterbox-drop street by street — "we're doing Richmond today," he'd take one side, I'd take the other. People would call having kept my brochure for two months or two years until the time was right. I used laundromats, noticeboards, the board at Woolworths — over 30 bookings from that. Then word of mouth, six years at a healing centre, and the psychic phone line. I've been eight years full-time now. (Hosts: most healers struggle with only one income stream — multiple streams matter. Content is huge now, and your database of subscribers' phone numbers is the modern letter drop; people will read a text when they won't open an email. Build that into your kit for 2026 and beyond.)

[58:54] Her other modalities

I originally trained in energy healing on the books of Barbara Brennan, Hands of Light — the seven-chakra system and the layers of the aura — back in New Zealand. Within Aquarian work I use kinesiology, timeline therapy and energy healing; I can do a full auric healing session, or Reiki. I also did life coaching in Sydney. The modalities blend — we could be doing a healing and then pull cards on an upcoming job, or I've got past-life cards. Different sessions become what they need to be.

[1:00:59] First steps if you feel stuck

Get clear on which areas of your life feel stuck — even just bullet points. With relationships, look at yourself too; it's a two-way street, and being honest with yourself is one of the hardest steps because we don't want to look at the shadow. We can only get so far ourselves — sometimes we need a different healing at a different time. Be kind and gentle with yourself: meditation, grounding, nature, a hot bath with epsom salts. And when you're ready to take the next step, it can be frightening, so start somewhere gentle — even a Reiki session, soft energy that still allows profound shifts. The worst thing you can do is nothing.

[1:04:58] What's next

Going forward I'd like to teach Aquarian healing — though I'd have to rename and rebrand it, and rework it with my own experience, so it becomes something different (and different again once students add their own spin). I really believe big changes are coming in the world, and people are looking for these older methods brought back. I'd love to move into teaching and mentoring, and into workspaces — guided meditation, coaching, and offering healing from there.

[1:08:05] Where to find Joelle

You can find me at universalhealingwellness.com, where I talk about the different modalities, and on Facebook as Universal Healing. I'm at the Mind Body Spirit Festival in Melbourne over the long weekend — two days in the readers' room, Saturday and Sunday — though my absolute passion is the deep healing work. (Hosts:) Thank you so much, Joelle — we'd love to have you back to go deeper. Please reach out to Joelle if you're ever drawn to past life regression — take the plunge, don't be a sceptic like me and wait 30 years. We'll be back next Thursday at 5pm with another very talented guest. Thanks for tuning in.
